We are pleased to announce the special session Digital Twins and AI for Composite Manufacturing: Modelling, Monitoring and Control (session 8.13) organised by Dr. Iryna Tretiak (University of Bristol) and Dr. Baris Caglar (TU Delft) at the 22nd European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM22), which will take place in Oslo, Norway, on 21–25 June 2026.
Our group was excited to attend the first AIComp 2025 in Bristol.

Earlier this month, Jimmy was at the 24th International Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM 24) in Baltimore to provide an update about his research on using Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to model the Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process. Our results show the potential of GNNs to replace mesh-based simulations from the microscopic (fiber) scale to the macroscopic (manufactured part) scale.
We’ve just achieved a landmark in composite manufacturing: curing a 1-meter propeller using frontal polymerization (FP)! 🚀 This energy-efficient technique harnesses self-sustaining reaction fronts to cure thermoset resins in minutes — not hours — significantly reducing energy use by more than 90% compared to conventional oven or autoclave methods, which are both time- and energy-intensive.

We are excited about the opening of Delft TapeLab and for the breakthroughs that will emerge from our collaboration with academic and industrial partners!
